ALSO CHECK YOUR ALTERNATOR

It's possible the alternator is the culprit, but I would ask:
Did you fully charge that new battery before letting it sit for a full week?
Try getting a charge and have the charging system tested at the same time.

Chances are your alternator was the culprit all along. The battery you got rid of was probably ok! Get a multimeter and start your car.Now place the tester on the battery terminals and see if you have at least 13.8 to 14.5 volts. If not your alternator is bad.

With the engine running, put a voltmeter across the battery terminals and take a reading. It should be somewhere around 13.5 to 14V. If it is higher or lower than that you have a problem with the alternator or the voltage regulator. good luck.

Sounds like you may have a electrical 'leak'. Get the battery charged and check for current flow with a multimeter on 'current'.
Connect the + ve terminal and put the multimeter between the - ve battery terminal and - ve batttery lead. If there is current flow you need to find out what it's from.
