I knew a family that because of complications in conceiving, waited 15 years for their first child.
She and her other brothers and sisters, 9 kids total, all disliked their birth names so they changed them to the more aristocratic combinations.
So when she gave birth to her 1 and only child, a daughter, she was named "Child" and given her fathers last name.
She wanted her daughter to pick out her own name when she grew up.
