is your coolant level staying the same. it could be the oil burning up in the cat causing it to be white. but it sounds like this thing might be on it's last leg. good luck

I am surprised you got that far, 238000 miles. It's a common problem with that motor. The head bolts have stretched leaving a gap between the heads and cylinders. Water is the smoke you see. Check the water again. It will cost you to much to repair. You will spend more to fix it than the car is worth. Trade it off. I had one just like it. A 1995 with a 3.0 liter V6.

with that many miles and burning oil, its probably time to think about upgrading the beast. much of a repair bill will over run the value of the vehicle at this point. an engine job would definitely cost more than the car is worth, and kinda sounds like that's where you are headed with it. i suggest using it for a trade in on a car with less miles if at all possible.

The rattling sound was probably pre ignition due to engine temp to hot,I know you said it was not overheating, but I think that maybe you have a head gasket that's just started to leak, the oil burning is another indication of overheating, also the valve seals could be letting oil bypass them.i would strongly reccommend taking it to a shop that has someone qualified in engine diagnostics, get more than one opinion on the engine.

i would say you have bad head gaskets white smoke is water and/or antifreeze.. the reason it would not crank the cylinder got to much water in it and on the compression stroke would not let the piston come all the way to the top after it sat all night it let the water seep out ..check your oil to see if it has a milky look to it if it does that is water in it hope this helps

My friend, there is an old saying in the car business: "Walking ain't crowded" and in my opinion you will soon be afoot. Do not spend large sums of money on a car with that kind of mileage. Time to car shop.

Obviously, it's the suspension. I would start with the tires, and check for balance. Then check the front end alignment, as well as the tie rods, and tie rod ends. A good front end shop could easily find the problem.

I think it is time to run a compression test on the engine. You may have either a blown head gasket, or a leaky intake manifold gasket. good luck.
