It is the slave mentality. People always expect dark skin people especially women to be ugly. It's just conditioning from slavery. The SM is in effect in certain places. Some places aren't that bad while others are worse. In my area, we don't go on about that dark skin and light skin. We see one another as black. Society does not want the majority of black people to be dark skinned anyway. They want us to breed with non blacks for just a bit until we are watered down some. The darker we are, that is evidence we could go back to being rooted and "they" don't want that. And then when we start getting black again, the biracial boom will happen again. We are subconsciously controlled by media if we continue to take part in it.

Come on y'all. Are you having that difficult of a time understanding the question? I'll rephrase it:
Were there any light complected people (who would be considered black by our society) in Africa before non-blacks began participating in African slavery?
Contrary to popular belief, I'm inclined to say yes. The reason being because evolution and heredity isn't all black and white. We know that evolution and heredity are the two factors which determined/determine melanin levels, but it isn't as though there have never been genetic hiccups so to speak.

Black does not equal dark skinned. Blacks come in many shades from the light end of the spectrum to the dark end. My great grandmother's skin was so light that people often mistook her for a white person. Don't be ignorant.
As to the question: The slaves came directly from Africa right? So if there were what you called "house slaves", they must have come from Africa with their light-skin.

Yes, Africa from the North to the South and from the West to the East is a very diverse continent. Northern Africans were always lighter in the skin (think Egypt, Morrocco) and most of the darker skinned Africans were from the Southern and Central parts. Of course the white and light skinned South Africans and Zimbaweans, etc that we see today came after European rule.

Yes, for example the Egyptians were rather light skin. It depends on what part of Africa they lived in. Even before the mixing of races Africans varied greatly in skin tone, height, build, and facial features just like any other race.

There were some light Skinned blacks in Africa before slavery because Europeans would travel going to Africa to trade or to still African artifacts and in that process they would rape many African women and the women would have half black half white babies. So yes there were light skinned slaves put on the slave ship.

good question. I am guessing not. Maybe some a tint lighter than others but around the west coast of Africa it was mostly pure dark skinned Africans. Once they got to the U.s everything changed.

Probably not. Any of the slave traders would have seen the white people being used as slaves and free them. Because they were a$$holes. I hate that whole slavery thing.
