Ireland was the first to discriminate against their own people. The Potatoe Famine was horrible and the People suffered before they sailed off to America. Ships sailed into Grosse Ile, with shiploads of the sick and dying Irish Immigrants. Thousands died and are buried in mass graves at Grosse Ile. The Irish were treated worst then cattle aboard the old ships beginning in 1854 . When they came to America they were treated badly too, mainly because they came in droves, and it was almost more then cities and states could handle. So don't pour salt into open wounds. Every immigrant that came to American soil had challenges, but eventually were accepted. Norwegians went throught the same thing as did the Bohemians. Bohemians were treated worst then the Blacks. So when you try to narrow in your question on one Culture, don't forget there were many from all over the world. Chinese, German, Austrian, Lebanese, Canadians, Polish, and the list goes on. The United States, has the right to be concerned, when so many foreigners continue to want to come here. This is what is happening to the Mexicans now. At least our Ancestors came here Legally.

No, in the South that never was a big issue. Many people in the US still openly discriminate against American Indians. The Irish Catholics were very lucky in comparison.

The American people in general didn't--and don't--discriminate aginst people.

But the racists and bigots didn't learn anything from the history of Irish immigrants. They were equally creel and intolerant of Poles, Italians, Rusian Jews, Japanese, Chinese, etc.

Bigots do not learn--they merly find new targets for their hatred. Today it happens to be Hispanics and Muslims--and of course, blacks. But there's no difference in the hate--a bigot is a bully, and they always pick the targets they think are helpless.

Not applicable because your question makes no sense. How does a country discriminate against a particular religion/race? People are discriminatory, not countries.

Of course not. It all has to do with the concept of "whiteness". Look into it one day.
