Just give her some time. Typically she will have them about 28 days apart, but that can vary as much as a week and still be considered normal. Odds are good she is about to deliver though, that's pretty common signs.

If platys get really stressed, they sometimes absorb the babies and never deliver. I don't put mine in a maternity tank, but I do provide a lot of cover for the fry in the platy tank. I have rocks stacked so that there are very small caves for them and also a lot of plants. I have a survival rate of 3 - 10 fry per brood, out of about 20 born. That probably sounds really low to you, but unless you are breeding for sale, even at this rate you will soon have more platys that you know what to do with.

Platys only have to breed once to have several broods, and will continually give birth every 28 days.

I seriously doubt that she only had one fry last time. Chances are much better that she ate all but one. Platys do not have good parenting skills and all adult platys will eat the fry. However, the ones that do survive will be the fastest, strongest and smartest.

Good luck!

I have platies also, and I've learned that even when it may look like they're about to have babies, they don't always have them. If I were you, I would just keep her in the breeder tank for a while until she's had the babies. I don't think anything is wrong, depending on exactly how's she acting. Mine acts this way as well. It takes a couple of days after this for her to have the babies.

She may be egg-bound, or she may have something even more serious like dropsy. Are her scales protruding like a pine cone?
