Could you please give me a list of the best & worst places to live in Las Vegas? I really need a good idea of where to look for an apartment. I'm willing to pay more if the area is nice. Please make as complete a list as you can. Thank you!

Yeah, what I mean by "nice" is generally clean and less dangerous than the worst areas.

Look for Summerlin, Green Valley or the new Mountain's Edge area.

Stay away from anything near the Stratosphere, on Sunrise Mountain, on or near a street named after a president or alphabet letter, the border between Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, or by the Boulevard Mall on Maryland Parkway!

Here is my answer from a similar question earlier today...

The best parts of the Las Vegas valley to live are the master planned communities of Summerlin in the northwest, Green Valley/Henderson to the south east and Southern Highlands to the far south.

All three are very nice with Green Valley being the most mature with Summerlin not far behind. Southern Highlands is very new and many things are still in the process of getting built.

Which one is the best would largely be determined on where you plan on working. LV doesnt have the best freway system so during rushhour, the freeways can be a nightmare especially around the strip and near downtown.

I hope this helps!

I waited until others chimed in. Here's what to avoid. The entire area bounded by Sahara Avenue on the North, Maryland Parkway on the East, Flamingo Road on the South and Paradise Road on the West. Although there are a number of apartment complexes inside that grid, it is the mostly densely populated area in all of Nevada. It is also known by the Metropolitan Police as "Crack Alley". Add to that the Camelot Apartments on Maryland Parkway, south of Tropicana Avenue. There are some very nice complexes along East Flamingo Road between Eastern Avenue and Pecos-McLeod Road. Similarly, there are some along East Desert Inn Road between Eastern and Pecos-McLeod.
The advantage of the areas I have mentioned are that you won't have to face a horrendous commute on the over-taxed freeway system, will be within 20 minutes road distance travel to jobs in the resort corridor and 20-30 minutes from jobs in downtown Las Vegas. These areas are also in "mature" areas with all shopping and other infrastructure amenities.

Aloha from Down Unda, 'THUNDERSTORM'!
Wow, we know yer spending 5 points to ask & we do NOT live in Las Vegas but we know enough from our past 2 trips to know that realitors in Las Vegas are happy to answer your questions without too much 'brow-beating'. Face it, you have the good grace to 'pay more' for a nicer area but at 111 degrees farenheight, how nice can it be?
It's difficult to recommend anything without knowing your preferences/expectations. Your request for a 'complete list' should be available 'online' search engines between the keyboard & your chair!
I'd suggest you visit the sites for 'Real Estate in Las Vegas, NV'. [ 'Herderson', too]
The BEST solution is to GO to Las Vegas for a month to look around. The site below accomodated me & the bride for a month for under $1,ooo but we did make reservations 90+days in advance...
Best wishes ~ K-den, M1/NSWMoke ;-)

it all depends on what you are looking for. Since you specified "nice', the southwest, south, southeast (henderson.green valley) and summerlin (a master-planned community actually) are the "nicer" parts of town and tend to cost more money. All of those places except for Summerlin are still pretty close to the strip
