how do i start acting?

ok so i live in a small town. i dont think there are places to act around here. we have a drama club but thats only for grades 10 and up. im in grade 9 now but ive always wanted to be good enough to play on movies and tv shows. help?

Hi,

you are going to have to find a way to get some good acting training. You must. Getting tips isn't going to do it for you.

Either you will have to go to a nearby town or maybe get a personal acting coach, although, it is better if you get into a class so that you can see other people work too.

Another thing you could do is to save up your money and go to a big city like NY and take an intensive class for 6 weeks in the summer.

Ask at the club if they would make an exception for you, since you so want to be part of it. If they stick with making you wait until next year, use this year to start reading plays. Understanding the form plays are written in will help you think about how you would want to try out for parts. You could ask at the club what they want to do next so you could read up on that one. Maybe they will let you attend rehearsals and do backstage jobs that are very important. Even if you don't get on-stage, you will learn a lot about the theater in the next year. And you will prove to the club you mean business. This can be added to your acting resume for the future, too.
