first, recognize the difference between needs (life or death) and wants (no matter how strong). second, have the willingness and the drive to remove unnecessary material items from your life.

you have to want to change more than you want to remain the same. get out of your comfort zone.

The way to hit bottom is like a rubber ball. Any other way is risky. I can`t think of a good reason to give up material things except to make someone else happy. How to be a zen master? I don`t know, maybe smile a lot? Try giving your head a shake and see what happens.

You can hit bottom by diving off the deep end.

You can think outside of the box by not fencing yourself in.

You can give up all material things by ridding yourself of the desire to possess them.

To be a zen master...well, you can start by not wanting to be a zen master.

That phrase could have several meanings, but to me, I've
been ''to the bottom", and why would you want to go there.
I was WITHOUT.....money, shelter, food, clothes (except a
couple of changes of them), furniture, household goods,
any children at home, no mate, NOTHING / ZIP....
(and I came up)...
If ya really want to do that....pack 2 outfits of clothing...buy
a bus ticket to the largest city you can go to, get off the
bus....AND THERE YOU ARE...ON YOUR OWN...WITH
NO MONEY, NO HOUSE, NO JOB, NO FAMILY, ZIP...
NUTTIN'...but your own...hopefully, good sense, to survive...
and see how quickly you'll be ''wanton to come back up"...
I didn't think that was....Too Funny, either....
