This is one of those jokes that has been going on with the Simpson's for a decade. They never say which state Springfield is in. So that if just a big joke for the movie, saying that it borders all four of those states that are thousands of miles apart.

Okay, there are Springfields in Oregon and Idaho, which border Nevada to the north, in New Hampshire, which borders Maine to the west. Kentucky and Ohio, which share a border, each have Springfields of their own, along with West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois surrounding the two of them...
