We had to read this for class. The book is Ray Bradbury's idea of what the future would be like if things continued to go on as they did when he wrote the book, which i believe was in the sixty's? So the book would be taking place in a time period which would probably be about now. It's confusing because there are lots of things in the book (which at the time didn't exist yet) that have different names, such as seashells (which are headphones) and walls (which are tv screens). Now that you kind of have the basic history of the book, it's pretty much about a firefighter who burns books for a living (you'll find out why if you read it) who discovers that the government is brainwashing society and wants to escape. Did this confuse you? This is just a summary, so if reading this was confusing then the book probably would be too. I found it very confusing and i personally did not find it very interesting. But don't necessarily take my word for it because a lot of people in my class liked it. But also keep in mind that our teacher made us a study guide and helped explain the book to us and reading it on your own might be difficult. I hope this helped. good luck
