To begin with, I am undecided as to a party now

But lately i've been discovering that my views match up more with Republicans than with Democrats.
I'm not big on illegal immigration. My family is all immigrants, but they were not illegal but I still feel that they feel partial to defending those who are. I feel differently, I feel that ppl should wait for Visas in order to come and not use OUR taxdollars, they feel that it's the least we can do as we are the richest country. This is just one of the biggest issues that has been going through my head. Would it be hypocritical of me to become a republican considering my family immigrated here?

Hell no cause there are Democrats that are against immigration, just like there are republicans who are for it, don't think all people just follow what party leaders use as a platform , find the party that fits you most and go with your core values

the libertarian web site has a political test ( it is slightly simplistic and slanted towards the libertarians but is still a good test

http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

or just do a goggle search of libertarian party

and also check out

http://www.politics1.com/parties.htm

its a site that lists all the registered parties in the us its a little out dated being its from the 2004 election but its a good site listing 41 parties

be informed not a puppet to the 2 parties

Be what you feel right being. If you migrated here illegally and complained about illegal immigration you would be a hypocrite. No matter how many times people tell you that immigrating here is the same as illegally immigrating here it is not (that would be like saying driving legally is the same as going 65 in a 35 mph zone) or that because your ancestors did not ask the natives permission that you are guilty you are not. You are only guilty of your own crimes committed by you. Don't do those things that you complain about (in this case don't illegally migrate to another country) and you will be fine.

I applaud your family for " doing it the right way ", but I don't understand their support for illegal immigrants. As a legal immigrant, your family swore to uphold the laws and Constitution of this great country. HELLO... what part of ILLEGAL do we not understand. Illegal means not legal ... it means law breaker ... it means CRIMINAL. I'm sorry if this is insensitive but it is the law. Why do the Demo-craps think that is okay to give amnesty to lawbreakers? But they are harassing Bush about firing some U.S. attorneys. Why don't they just give Amnesty to Bush and get on with the business of taking the fight to the Taliban, Al-Qaida, and who every else wants a piece of America? Oh and by the way, the Republicans are not innocent in this debate, especially the RINO'S ( Republican In Name Only). If they would have just done what they were told to do, they would have never lost the Congress in the first place. But no, they wanted to play nice with the Demo-craps and Bush did not use the BIG stick in IRAQ... instead he used the little twig. Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

In my opinion, there is a little good in both parties, but ALOT of bad. After all they 're politicians, and all they want from us is a vote every 4 years depending on the office, and a bunch of tax dollars. It is also my opinion that the freakin 'melting pot' is full. Instead of legalizing the influx of 'undocumented americans' as that statesman harry reid so aptly put it, they should be protecting us taxpayers by securing the borders. Not only because of illegals, but terrorists as well. But do they bother? Hell no. They are politicians. Another term is : Legal idiots. Ever hear the old phrase of talking out of both sides of your mouth????? Thats a politician, or better yet a member of congress, or........................ somone running for prez.
What we need in this country is a VIABLE third party, not the green, not the independent, nor the libertarian. A VIABLE third party, with a VIABLE candidate for prez

Absolutely not. Your family moved because you have choice here in the States. I would think your family would want people to come in legally. You have a choice to choose a party that you feel benefits America. I have been voting Republican for the last 2 elections.

All ways stick to your convictions. You don't have to choose a party. There are Democrats that I would vote for just for the fact that they have more conservative views than some so called conservatives. I don't have any tolerance for a socialist. I don't see why it would be hypocritical for you to vote for a Republican. Is there a rule that says all immigrants have to vote for a bleeding heart liberal?

I am a Republican. I used to consider myself a Democrat, until they became more and more influenced by liberal ideaologies. I truly believe the biggest threat to our nation, after terrorism is liberalism.
