I rather be hated for who I am rather than loved for whom I am not. The first is the real person and the second person would be a phony and living a lie. If you are hated and persecuted for who you are then you are probably doing the right thing and have stirred those who hate you by conscience and conviction. If you are loved for someone you are not the love will be short lived , you will be found out eventually , and the lie you have spread may affect others in a harmful way. Deceitfulness in living a lie is so harmful that you will eventually not know the difference between a truth and a lie and that makes you more dangerous and delusional . The truth will set you free while living a lie is constant and with every passing day the chains become tighter and tighter until eventually you have isolated yourself from the truth and you have imprisoned yourself until you let the truth out . In letting the lie go so far could have serious consequences that can be irrepairable. The one who is hated and persecuted may actually be better off than you . That person can look at himself in the mirror and be confident that he is true to hmself , to others and to God.

Id rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not. I've often found that such situations fall under the categories of either selective ignorance or misunderstanding.
"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which can not fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
- Herbert Spencer
Conversely, the same is true for "love prior to investigation."

I would rather be hated for who I am because I don't think I could stand pretending to be someone I'm not. In the end it's the same thing anyways because you aren't being loved for you.

I would rather be hated for who I am because if someone loves who I'm not, but they think I am, then they really don't love me. And it would most likely create problems when they found out I wasn't being myself with them.

I try to avoid hatred but if a person doesn't like me I can accept it gracefully. When I was younger I was very fragile in that regard. Even though age has hardened my soul I still try to remain emotionally close to the surface. I mean people tend to like me in reality. I don't care about this Answers crap. It is just an outlet from a character.
