"Rurouni Kenshin" is cool its about Japan after the revolution. Its about the main character, Kenshin, that was a powerful assassin but turned good. He now has settled down in a dojo with some others and has tried to escape his past, but it keeps coming back.
Also "Tsubasa". It is about the princess of a country who falls in love with a childhood friend. She is attacked and her memory has been shattered. Memories must be found by her childhood friend by traveling from dimension to dimension and searching for them, in the form of feathers. Unfortunately in order to travel them, her old friend made a deal that would allow him to cross worlds, but the princess would never remember him even if all the other memories were found.
I picked these because they sound like your style and there funny and action filled. Enjoy!

Read CLAMP's Cardcaptor Sakura? Or Koge-Donbo's Kamichama Karin? The story is clear but the art is cute and beautiful. Those mangas are maho shojo, but there's more than that. Check it out!!! Kamichama Karin will also have a sequel.^.^

Hmm...Fushigi Yugi is by Yuu Watase also, I haven't read it but other people like it. =D
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (or Perfect Girl Evolution) is a really funny manga, it's got comedy, romance, it's shoujo and reverse harem...bishies XD There's an anime adaptation too.
Bleach and Naruto rock!!! hehe and Fullmetal Alchemist is good too ^-^

full moon wo sagashite - it's so cute, sweet, but has a deeper plot than wat it seems. Reminds me of fruits basket, but a little bit better in my opinion.
Gakuen Alice- about elenmentary school kids that have special powers. It might seem not your type, but it's still good and cute.
Alice 19th and DEFINEAITLY Ouran High School Host Club. It's so funny! And there's bits of romance in it, too. But i'm telling u, it's a romance that's so funny that i burst out laughing so many times. It's GREAT! READ IT
