Your nation anthem makes a big deal of the flag being a symbol of freedom and bravery. It gets desecrated often (most news stations have covered images of this happening). Does it still mean anything to anyone?

It means a lot to me.
My Grandfather put his flag up every morning and took it down every evening. I have always known the proper flag etiquette, because he taught me very early in my life. He landed on D-Day and fought across Europe to help free those in Concentration Camps. Gramps may not have been more than a Private in the Army, but he loved America and all she stands for -- the flag is the symbol of that. I have had so many family and friends serve in the Armed Forces. The American Flag is a symbol of the freedoms and Rights we believe in, and means a lot to me.
Peace.

I respect the flag because it is the symbol of those values you have mentioned and much more. it answers the question of why us Americans fight so hard, why we shout so loud, why are we so proud to be an American.

The flag is something we can all relate to as Americans, we can all able to Say the pledge, we can all salute, and we can all value it for the same reason.

I am thankful to be able to look up at that flag and understand it's great meaning to this country.

understand, it isn't the flag itself that I respect, it's the meaning behind the flag that all American citizens value...

so no matter how much anyone burns the flag, it doesn't matter, because unless people find a way to burn freedom and bravery...choice and values, those things that the flag symbolizes will still be alive and running.

it doesn't mean much when someone burns our flag because almost always anyone burning our flag is a moron, in the rare cases where they truly have a beef with us and there demonstrating by burning our flag then i think most Americans feel for them. we aren't a nation of fools like so many people think, we are a nation of all the nations of this world combined, so if you put down American then in some way your putting down yourself because part of who you are is what makes American what she is. i cant speak for everyone but in my opinion you can burn our flag all day long, we aren't about our flag its just a symbol we are a proud nation and we know our own value even if the rest of the world is blind to it.

Dam right! It a symbol of what we stand for. Anyone who disagrees can get the hell out. "America, love it for leave it" That goes for everyone that flies all those ugly flags! It's great all these immigrants want to come into our country for our money and freedom but then they don't take pride in our county. It's the sickens me! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

I like the American flag, as it is the national flag and all. And yes it does mean something to me. I am proud to be an American.

However, I will openly confess I *love* the Stars 'n' Bars over the Stars and Stripes. I can't help it, I am a Southerner first and foremost. :)

I serve my country. I would die for my flag, because I defend the rights for us to speak freely, even if some Americans disagree and want to burn it...that is their right. A right that me and my brothers in arms are willing to protect. Ironic, isn't it?

as a true Southerner.i burn that Yankee flag ever so often.that flag was flown into battle against my people. 78,000 Innocent civilians murdered by Yankee troops, our cities burned. my peoples home burned in the middle of the night,my people were killed by people flying that flag.my great uncle lost his leg and it ruined his life.my peoples land taken. i could go on and on. that damn flag represents evil and the murder of my southern people. But i fly it all the time in front of my home. but burn it on occasion.and i will not allow a Yankee in my home.were an occupied nation. i love our flag. My father, his father, my mothers father and grandfather all fought for that flag. The sight of it fills me with pride and an overwhelming sense of patriotism. I wept when i saw it at ground zero where myself and many others lost friends and fellow citizens. I wept when i saw it on my friends coffin when he finally came home.
You may burn it if you like...but please wrap yourself in it first
