USB 2.0 has been the latest version of the USB standard port on computers. it offers higher transfer speeds and more reliability. Many older computers had USB 2.0 ports in the back and USB 1.1 ports in the front... for a really dumb reason, but they did.

You are familiar with computer peripherals like printers, scanners, external DVD drives and etc.. These devices connect to the computer via 2 types of ports - there are more but let's just concentrate on these 2. They are the USB ports and the Firewire ports. Most computer peripherals connect via USB ports. Camcorders and other digital recorders use Firewire ports; however, Firewire ports are becoming more popular and expect more devices to use them. You mention USB 2.0. There are 2 versions of the USB port. The first version was called simply USB; however, when it was improved, the old version was called USB 1.0 and the new version 2.0. The new version allows for a faster connection - roughly 10x the original.

It means the newer and faster version of USB (Universal Serial Bus). It's a way of connecting peripheral equipment like pocket PC, an external hard drive, a camera... stuff like that.
Not all USB 2 is equal, and even the best is not as good as Firewire (or IEEE 1394). If you have one of those ports, use it instead.
