lets say, thousands of years ago when Gods where plentyful and ppl had trouble in their lives ,they would go and ask for help from these Gods. some other ppl realized that these unfortunate folks left a token of appreciation to their beloved Gods, and capitalized on this , slowly but successfully they cashed in on this! as time went on, they came up with the Idea to have one huge God ,the one that could make your life wonderful but the prize went up! not only did your tokens of apreciation go higher, but laws of what and how where thrown in as well, for more power for those who where running the show! up until today these capitalists are the most powerful and richest ppl on earth. Their conspiracy worked and ppl are paying their hard earned money to the churches and oraganizations in return for a blessing of something that was made up!

caould you agree that this might not be far fetched????

You may have an argument, but I have to ask, are secular governments also a part of this scheme? The church was abandoned by most governments a long time ago, and the richest men in the world include Atheists like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates and they aren't using a god - themed religion to get the money. I think the concept of money is actually the false "god" humans have been chasing since the beginning of time. Money only works if we are convinced it's worth something and we all agree to believe that. Lol, I like this kind off question though, you really have to think about it, but some how I don't think the answer is as easy as your theory.

I don't think you have that well thought out. A conspiracy that lasted thousands of years before and after Christ at a time when there were few books and fewer who could read. At a time when there was little organization in the world at large? And i don't think millions and millions of people would be religious if there were not some benefit to them---spiritually and otherwise.

Well I am not sure its a conspiracy. I believe like minded people got organized and consolidated later generations into believing in only one path. But of course my perspective is coming as a atheist so you may be looking for the opinion of a member of a current organized religion.

I don't agree. not everyone that believes in god and is a christian & or catholic has to pay to go to church or believe. yes, they have offering at church but it isnt necessary and the money goes to a good place. i think your theory needs some work.
