Okay when I came to visit my uncle the other day he gave me a ferret as a present....uhh i live in California but I'm pretty sure it's not really allowed. His name is Lacee and we were going to take him to the vet but I'm afraid like they'll do something about him..;_;

Ok, your ferret is at risk with a vet in California because, yes, ferrets are illegal there. Legislation is being worked on to allow them, but so far it's not been passed.

There are about 500,000 ferrets secretly in California, and yes, they can get vet treatment. To find one that won't cause you to have your ferret confiscated by animal control (and yes, even Paris Hilton had trouble with bringing her pet ferret into California) go online and look for ferret bulletin boards.

Pooflingers is a reliable board, it's members only--just email the administrator asking to join (the administrator email is at the bottom, just look for the red words) and they can help you with what vets are in your area that are ok. It's a good board that doesn't flame anyone.

They aren't allowed in California and you could get in big trouble for owning one. You could call a small animal vet and ask about ferrets and if they don't say anything you could take them but if they make some kind of comment, try another. Hope this helps!
