George Bush's biggest failure has been the Iraq war. The war was unjustified, and a distraction from the war in Afghanistan and the capture of Osama Bin Laden. Furthermore, the conduct of the Iraq war following the initial invasion has been a complete debacle. The responsibility for these failures fall squarely on the President and his administration.

There are so many, it's hard to choose. Iraq has been costly, in treasure and lives, and to our image around the world. But the lack of a domestic program besides "tax cuts" has been a more or less invisible failure - what could we have done if a President who cared about the American people had been in office? Then there's the open hostility between left and right (remember Bush was going to be a unifier, not a divider), the damage to our Constitution and our system of checks and balances, the blurring of the separation between church and state, and the bad feelings we all have toward the government after the scandals, corruption, and apathy they've shown toward average people. It's hard to choose, but I think the ways in which he's failed the elderly, the handicapped, the unemployed, and the homeless are the worst - many of them will never recover from the neglect they're received.

Dude is right--Iraq.

Boomer Wisdom: "He didn't fire the Clintonistas surrounding him and the executive branch immediately."

Do you suppose the "Clintonistas" surrounding Bush should actually be blamed for Iraq, huge federal deficits, Katrina response, war on environment and science, erosion of church/state separation, violations of international treaties, the disrespect of world opinion, etc?

Maybe Bush's biggest failure would then just be pure incompetence?
