I'm not saying some of the liberals on here don't insult conservatives, but by far the great majority of republicans on here don't ask real questions or give real answers they just use Y!A to insult people who don't agree with them.

Part of it is that no one can see anyone else. People type things on here that they would never dream of saying if they were in the same room with the person they are talking to.

Why can't people in both parties stop throwing insults. I don't think think one party has the advantage over the other when it comes to the number of people throwing the insults the difference is that when someone from one party makes a mean or insulting statement the people from the same party see it as a fact and the opposing party see it as an insult. The Democrat and the Republican parties are more alike than what most people want to admit.

That is a good point. When people replace facts in an argument with just insults it makes intelligent conversation impossible. What we need in this country is for people to realize that their way of looking at something is not the only"right" way. There are an infinite number of ways to look at one thing, and just because someones opinion is different than yours does not mean it is wrong. If people could do that, maybe the country would be better off with intelligent arguments resulting in intelligent conclusions replacing insulting conversations resulting in haphazard conclusions.

Liberals, Conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents are guilty of this, and to move forward we need to find a way to move beyond petty insults.

Things that many Republicans have to believe in order to be a Republican today.

1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is spending billions in Iraq.

3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

4. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

6. Smaller government means more freedom yet expanding govt more than FDR and LBJ combined protects freedom.

7. Billions of dollars spent on the infrastructure is financial suicide, yet TRILLIONS of dollars we'll spend rebuilding Iraq's infrastructure after WE'VE destroyed it is securing the future.

8. Freedom and Democracy means being able to choose your own leaders; unless those choices don't coincide with ours.

9. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

10. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

11. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

12. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

13. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

14. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

15. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

16. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

17. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

18. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning protestors, censoring the Internet and spying on its own citizens.

19. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

20. You support states' rights, which means the Attorney General can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

21. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Both sides are guilty of it, but the anonymity of Yahoo Answers makes it easier, especially if one doesn't let others know their IM or email address to be shown, as this prevents them from being contacted.

they are following the methods used in the campaign to discredit kerry. they called him a traitor, while bush couldn't complete his service in the guard and was thus a draft dodger.

sean hannity and rush limbaugh use the same techniques.

that is way that some republicans are. i won't say all of them, but a lot.
