Whenever people ask me, "When are you getting married?" I always tell them I have no interest in marriage. Most of them look at me funny and some have told me I'm a loser. Why is it not okay with some people if I never get married in life?

It is the societal obligation to marry and procreate. The "perfect" life is married, big house/mortgage, immense gas-guzzling SUVs, 2.7 kids, 1.3 pets, and more social activities on your plate than Martha Stewart could handle.
Stick to your guns. If you enjoy a solitary life, there is NOTHING wrong with it in my book. I know a LOT of people who are happily unmarried and A LOT less stress-loaded than I am!

You're not a loser for not wanting to get married. In this day and age nobody should have to get married just to get married. If you are happy with your life don't let people put you down. Not everyone is cut out for marriage. Just be happy and live each day the fullest you can. Who knows the special someone might just come along and you could change your mind on the whole thing.

You're normal. Many people dont want to get married. If your happy with yourself and your choices, why worry what others have to say? And who gave these people permission to think their views are the normal and their life choices are right and yours are wrong. They just cant handle seeing people make choices that they wouldnt do, and that applies for a lot of things not just marriage. Tell them to lead their lives by their choices and let you live yours. They are not right or wrong and neither are you. Ignorance is bliss to them.

Mariage is not for everyone. some peope just like to live there own life and dont feel the need to split it 50/50. thats totally cool. dont listen to them. You can still spend your whole life with someone and never be married you know... My parents were never married to eachother and they had a great life together. Your so not a loser. your a free person! you can do whatever you want. be single or be engaged or just live with someone or live alone or date. its up to you. Be optimistic your glass is half full baby, love it!!!

You're talking to incredibly rude people. Maybe a different social environment would help. Whether they say it or not, all of us are considered losers by some people. Can't please 'em all. With all the divorces out there, I would think knowing when NOT to get married should be a good thing.

well.my bf never got married.. he has been engaged before.. 3 times the last one to me.. but i realized that he did not mean it and told him we would be going back to being gf and bf.. some people like him have a fear of marring.. some dont.. if you never get married that is fine.. as long as you dont try to pretend your someone your not.. if you do you will end up hurting that person and your self.. because not everyone will see when a person is not for real.. and they will marry that person.. and both will be unhappy;; one thing for sure when the right one comes along you will be all for it.. the same for my bf.. as i told him the other night.. i am not sure he understood what i was getting at.. but i know he is not going to be with me for ever.. because of that one thing.

You sound like someone who knows what they want. So, don't worry about what these "other people" say. If you are happy with your life, don't waste energy worrying about what others think. Remaining single is not as unusual as it used to be. Lots of divorced people will tell you they should have stayed that way! But seriously, don't measure your worth by some ill-mannered person who would call you a loser. Remember: "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself"

Because ever since we were born, people are pushing us to find our "soul mate". Society is not used to people who want to be alone and are happy to never have that special someone to commit their lives to.
It's quite natural to not get married, but people think you're a little odd for not wanting to tie the knot!

whatever they're just dumb..who cares what they think? if you dont want to get married then dont..honestly, who cares what they think about you? as long as you are okay with not getting married you're all set. not everybody is the same and some people just think everyone should get married, but on your case you just dont want to and i dont blame you. ppl have interests in diffrent things, if i said "i want to go skydiving" some people might be like "what are you thinking"
