It give the direction but it don't say how much carbon to use. I can estimate by looking at what the old once has in them. Can you use to much carbon?

i did read instructions it says to add carb but dont say how much

The only way you can have too much in the filter is if the water begins to run over or around the bag of carbon. Other than that you can't use too much.

Carbon is neutral and will not hurt anything by using too much It does not add anything to the water, it only takes things out.
Too little carbon, though, will not do enough of anything to justify the price of the product. And don't forget to change this carbon regularly, it does get old pretty quick and then is useless for catching poisons and toxins.
