The notch of the release lever (rod), pulls on the clutch rod, which activates the clutch by spreading the clutch plates apart.
With the cover off:
Slide the release lever into the cover.
The part that the clutch cable attaches to - point it away from the bike.
While putting the cover on, turn the release lever until it grabs the clutch rod.
You might have to do it a few times to get it to catch.

It goes in from the top side and you also have an oil seal that should go in the top of the clutch cover. The notch is where the clutch lever arm sits.Dont forget to get a new gasket and put in on dry.Scrape all the other gasket of the engine side of the cover and be careful not to nick or gouge the surface or it will leak. You can go to the auto parts store and purchase some gasket remover spray. It works well.I hope you put the bearing in the bottom side of the clutch cover first.
