I already have 1 Aqua-Tech filter, but I am getting a otocinclus and I have heard they are huge waste makers.

Also, if i have two filters, do i still need a air pump. The air pump is a 5-15 gallon as well.

Where are you getting your information? There is no such thing as a 1 1/4" fish that produces huge amounts of waste. Your two filters will be fine for most fish. You are always better off overfiltering than underfiltering. You don't need an air pump with one filter or two, but it won't hurt to get one either.

The problem is that the tank should have been cycled. That means that your tank should have been set up with plants, water, etc. for a couple of weeks. This allows for a build up of healthy bacteria. Yes, you added a cap full of bacteria, but from experience, I have noticed that is not entirely enough. Your water needs proper circulation. I also know that floating the bag of fish in a tank for 15 minutes is not enough. I have read that 30 minutes is minimum. I cannot say with full confidence if 15 extras minutes makes a whole lot of difference. Did you included the water from the bag they were packed in from the store? 3 Fancy goldfish also require at least 30 or more gallons for optimal survival. Also, did your fish look entirely healthy when you purchased them? I have never kept minnows, so I can't help you there. Sorry.

One filter is fine,as long as you have a filter you don't need an air pump unless you just like the look of it.Air pumps don't do very much anyway.

No, that is what I run. It might even be a little light depending on how you stock. You don't need the air pump at all, just keep the water level about an inch below the hood line (viewed from the outside) and one filter alone will provide ample surface agitation.

Too much filtration has never been a problem, provided it's being done with clean & maintained filters. Keep your airstone too. Clean water + bubbles = healthy fishes.

you could purchase a second filter or simply upgrade to a stronger filter. I suggest bio wheel ( It's really helped keep my goldfish waste under control) I would suggest a bubbleer it adds extra oxygen to the water and really mkaes your fish happier.
