It should be both ways, should be talked about between both people for both situations. Why are you saying that it's one way and not the other? Who's rule are you referring to?

If he is an adult and has the money to pay for it, no MD is going to stop him.
Many a wife would prefer to have her husband have it done, then to go through a much more invasive surgery to get her tubes tied.
Either way, there shouldn't be secrets between the couple. The decision NOT to have any more children should be mutual. Each has a choice.

My husband didn't need my permission to get a vasectomy. I was supportive of the procedure but the doctor never asked me nor did I have to sign a release.
So you are mistaken in your claim.

My husband had a vasectomy without my permission. i.e, I didn't have to sign consent or anything. He just went to the urologist and had it done.

i worked for urologist for years, and have assisted on over 1000 vasectomies.
i have never heard of that, we didn't need the consent of the wife.
but i don't know how the law is where you live.

Vasectomy and abortion are practices against human dignity. It should not be allowed to anybody unless there are medical reasons for that.
