LOL @ quest's answer!
I see what you're getting at. We all know that terrorist attacks can happen anytime, anywhere, but the Olympics will be a huge event, with God only knows how many people attending from all over the globe. A sitting duck of a target.
That said, the fact that is is a global event may well deter those who are only after a certain segment of the population.

The Olympics are to be held in China in 2008, the last I knew. I am sure they cannot assure the complete safety of everyone. I do know, they are extremely harsh on criminals there.

The simple answer is you can't, there's going to be millions of people walking, travelling, and watching this global event. You cannot police everywhere, even with the best will in the world. It only takes one person, as we have seen already. A determined suicide bomber strapped with explosives, under a shirt, jacket, how you going to stop that. Sorry if thats alarmist but its a reality.

We can not ensure safety , but then , do you think that we whould let them get away with it ,
It is about time we , stood our ground , and made it very clear that if these nutters want a war , then they have it ,
As the risk , it seems comes from the Muslims , send them a clear signel , that we will no longer put up with there games,
If they want to distroy the UK , then we will distroy Mecca , with an atom Bomb , they will soon change there minds , very quickly
To make it quite clear if they wish to continue to wage war , we are prepared to F**k there way of life up
I know this sound harsh , but mark my words it whould stop it , faster than anything else

Ensuring EVERYONE's safety from terrrorism, especially during the Olympic Games, is something that we can strive for, with help from Homeland Security and intelligence, but it is not a guarantee. If only there was such a thing!
People with crazy ideals abound, unfortunately, and there's always a possibility that they will find a way to get through. We can only do our best and then hope for the best.

Unfortunately there is no way we can guarantee that terrorists won't strike and we can't ensure safety. I mean look at the way Brown is handling the floods. Blair would have been no better though lol.

Just erect a massive electric fence around london and patrol it with rottweilers.
That'll solve the problem, the rest of the uk wont be affected by the games anyway so it must be a london problem.
By the way. dont ask us to contribute to the fence, you reep what you sew

Have all terrorists enter the terror race in the Gobi desert. They are so vain-glorious that they`d all strive to outdo one another and roast to there. The world would be free of them till after the olympics at least.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit. The one and only way for the Olympics to be safe is not to have them.
