Family is that certain group of people who make one feel welcomed, accepted and loved, unconditionally. It MAY be with people who are related by blood and it may ALSO be with a group of like minded individuals who behave as a family towards a person. Family not ONLY includes how the group feels towards you but also includes how YOU feel towards the group. ALL the feelings and emotions that are directed towards YOU should and MUST be directed FROM you towards the "family". It's one of those reciprocal kinds of things. Some forms of Witcraft tend to be that way, with family being the most BASIC, ot smallest unit of a Tradition concsiousness, next up would be the Tribe, next up would be the Clan and finaly to the overall World of people. Witches in a covne setting ALSO tend to think of each other as family members (assuming that the coven operates in the utopian and unconditionally loving manner). That's just MY persepctive on these things and not necessarily the perspective of OTHER Witches. *hugs*

Family can be blood relations but to me family is more. Family are the friends around you that share in your good times and bad times. The ones you can call in the middle of the night to cry on their shoulders or just show up to collapse on their couch because life has just been too rough lately. I would do exactly the same for them and they are my family.

Lets see.... my parents have recently passed, and I was not in the will, even though I was part of the family, my sister walked away with 2 million dollars, did she share, no, what does it tell me, money means more to her than her own flesh and blood.

Family is the people you care about and you give of yourself to....the people you worry and think about and want to struggle for....the people you silently suffer for because your love for them is stronger than any pain your paycheck, your boss or your living conditions can deal you.
Blood/DNA don't matter - family is a state of the heart, not genetics.

A family is people you are related to or adopted by. When someone gets married, they join the family. When a kid is adpoted, they join the family.
