Hey, hurricane names. They use the English alpahbet at the momment, then they will move onto the Greek alaphabet. They name hurricanes in alphabetical order, and like Catrina, if there is one any worse, it will be called Catrina 2, depending on the catogory. I dont know who comes up with the names...but it is retired if its used, so they wont be many left in a certian alpabet, so they simply move onto the next.

They now also name hurricanes after both sexes (as of 1979). I found it interesting that the World Meteorological Organization uses six lists in rotation. The same lists are reused every six years. The only time a new name is added is if a hurricane is very deadly or costly(such as Katrina, Hugo, Andrew). Then the name is retired and a new name is chosen.

So they can identify it. People will remember Hurricane Katrina better then "Hurricane 14-B," or "that hurricane that killed all those people." Also, weather stations need to keep track of all these things.

I don't think they are stupid--but they should always be ladies' names because we stir things up when wet.
