Get the word out. Also, be open and transparent with the funds; trust can play a big role in how much you're able to raise.

As for the actual money, the three main ways are by selling goods (bake sale, products, etc.), selling services (e.g. car washes), or simply soliciting donations. You can also have a fundraiser event, though that usually falls under one of the other categories. Which method(s) you use will depend on what cause you're raising money for, and how much you hope to raise.

Ask businesses to donate items (art, trips, hotels, dinners, gift certificates) for a raffle at a dinner somewhere nice.. you can get ppl to donate for recognition at the event. you can get the food donated, even the location. you can pre-sell tickets, put on a brief presentation about the charity that they are supporting by their attendance tonight. you can have a band, DJ, etc. for entertainment.

you can also just put together a newsletter telling ppl what you are doing, how many ppl you are doing it for, the impact on those ppl you are doing it for (like a success story or testimonial) then you can ask readers to support it by sending in a donation to sustain those services to your targeted population. make sure you are sending it to ppl that are in a better position to contribute so you wont waste money on the mass mailing. (country club lists, alliance or professional lists are good finds)

create an event unique to your mission. individualize it so that when they hear about the event, it will also tell something about your mission.

raising awareness of your mission always raises money for it in the long run. good luck!!
