If you cannot make ends meet without government assistance, then by all means sign up for it. If you can manage without, then don't -- it will leave more money in the system for those people who DO need it.
As for him saying no, that is simply his pride talking. He doesn't want to "degrade" himself by needing public assistance or "admitting" he can't adequately care for his family.
If you qualify AND you need it, then apply. But use it only as long as you NEED it.

Why would he say no? Explain to him it's for the benefit of the family especially the kids and you all won't be on it forever...hopefully. Tell him there's no reason to be ashamed or feel like it's charity. We all pay taxes in this country and I feel better knowing some of my money is going to people who are in need. I have a college degree but a few years ago I was pregnant and unemployed so I had no choice but to get state assistance. I'm glad I did because I wouldn't have made it otherwise.
Hopefully your hubby will change his mind because his information will be needed when you go and apply.

First, do you have medical ins through his employer? And
do you NEED assistance? The assistance programs are in
place for people who really NEED help. I know alot of people abuse the Medicaid and WIC programs, but that doesn't make it right. I've always worked to help my husband, and I'd rather work than go on assistance. I guess
it all depends on your specific circumstances. But if you guys
are doing well on his salary, be thankful and feel blessed.

It would be best to wait until your husband agrees. Once you have his blessing it won't cause any problems. Medical coverage is very important for your kids. Make sure your husband understand the needs of having it. It can be costly out of the pocket.
God bless

It's matter of pride. Men like to think they are capable of supporting their family with no outside help. If you can't keep good food on the table, I'd say yes. If not, and he's making the valiant effort to improve the situation, give him your support, and help when you can.

I wouldn't do it behind my husband's back... but would talk to him about it again and tell him the advantages. Good luck!
