i also havent had it a year, i got it a couple days before thanksgiving

Probably not, and they'll obviously know if you try and say something else happened to it - try drying the thing properly, it might still work - leave it on a warm radiator with the battery off for a few days.

Maybe you should try reading your Verizon insurance policy or try calling a local Verizon rep.

not sure, pull this off though, happened to a friend of mine
she was going to the bathroom and was wearing one of thoes t-shirts with a small breast pocket that her phone was in, well when she bent over to flush the toilet it fell out and got flushed......
they covered her, shes on a diff network but it was covered
