I'm doing a play on HP/Sorcerer's Stone and I've been looking and looking for a long black robe with sleeves for Snape to wear, and I'm really tired of looking. Actually, I don't think they have one on the market today. So, if y'all could help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!:)

You might try looking for a graduation gown to use for the base of the costume. My DD used mine the year she did Hermione for Halloween.

Use an old oversized sweat shirt for a partial model. Place it on the actor. Trim pieces out around the neck to resemble the robe your interested in.

Cut the sweatshirt along the seams. Place the sweatshirt on a piece of black fabric to be used for the robe, and pin it down. Trim around the pieces, leaving about 1/4 inch of extra material, to leave room for sewing pieces together. Extend the bottom of the model down, to give it any needed length.

Sew the pieces together, and add any necessary edging and frills.

You probably know someone that can do the machine sewing (who doesnt), and this way the robe will have the look you want. Sewing, fabric, and odds and ends shouldnt cost more than $20-$30 US.

Or, go to a thrift store, get a cheap flannel/terry cloth robe, and dye it flat black, several times if you need to. $10-$12 US, robe and dye.

I don't know where you live, or what kind of sewing/crafting skills you have, which can both make a difference to your choices. But the best place to find cheap costuming materials is your local charity thrift shop. There are different kinds of thrift shops, so you should be leery of ones that call themselves "vintage" or consignment shops; their prices are much too high. A Goodwill-style shop is best. You can find some truly astonishing things for two or three dollars. And they have new stuff coming in all the time, so keep going back.

Try a graduation gown. I just paid $30 for my son's High School gown and it's disposable (Nylon). Looks close enough to the robes worn at Hogwarts.

Hello
I am not sure exactly what the robe is made of or looks like. But what about a rental store that
rents graduation gowns? Long sleeves black that may be the cheapest way!
