When I had to give away my dog because my job kept me away 14 hours a day. I rescued that dog, and it was great when my live-in girl was home while I worked. (We had alternate-type schedules). When she split, I didn't dream of giving up that dog, but 14 hours alone in an apartment was just too hard on the poor thing, so I gave her up to a family with a stay-at-home mom and two other dogs her breed. When they came to get her, I sat on the porch and hugged that dog and cried and cried and cried until I finally had to put her in their car, and they were long gone.
Now I have cats. Sure, they love it when you get home, but they really don't stress about being left alone, as long as there is food. Anyway, they aren't alone, there are two of them and they hassle each other all day.

On December 18, 2005 when I buried the last living blood relative, my oldest sister. I now am the last member of my family, and have no relatives left. The realization that I am completely alone, hit me hard at her buriel and I sobbed for days.

Must've been 10 years ago I cried to that extent. I was hit in the head with a baseball playing with older kids.

About 3 years ago my husband was reading the paper and said "Uh, wasn't Jane your aunt?" I said yes, why? "She uh, died." I didn't believe him and grabbed the paper and it was true. The family thought I already knew.

Feb 17th 2007 when we had to put our dog Ruff to sleep. It was the hardest thing we had to do. But we know it was the right thing to do. RIP Ruff!

at my Mother-in-law's funeral. I shocked myself because I lost it during the hymn "the Lord's my Shepherd" I didn't think she meant so much to me at the time. I was so wrong. and believe it or not I still miss her.
