Grab the phone book and start calling and asking, you will never know til you ask the places directly. some places though will require a parental consent form to be signed so make sure you let your parental units know of your plans, who knows they might actually want to do it with you, it can be a family thing

You may not be able to work but you can definitely volunteer, it is encouraged. Just look up local shelters in the phone book/internet and talk to them. Most shelters really want volunteers, trust me.

As to the availability,I don,t know but shelters almost always except people who want to help and willing to work. It's not as romantic on the inside as it may look outside. You may be cleaning poop out of cages and scrubbing dirty feed containers,so look before you leap!

Maybe you can do something indirect like gathering blankets for bedding or helping with fund raising with a car wash or something. You seem old enough to me to work there answering phones or something not where an animal can bite you.

Id call the animal shelters around your area and ask. At my animal shelter you have to be 14.
