Have you got experience? The best way is to do a 3 year course at a drama school and at the end of the course is a showcase that all the agents and casting directors in london are invited to attend. You will have to go to one of the top drama schools for the decent agents to come. So do your research on the best ones. Other than that, you can audition for something of very good quality on the fringe, once in the show, find out who the agents are of the other actors and write to their agents with a letter, CV and 8x10 photo. Don't bother writing to agents without something worthwhile for them to see as it will immediately go into the bin. If you have a good professional showreel (if you have GOOD clips from short films - compile them and make a showreel on a dvd) agents are less likely to throw it immediately in the bin. Really, the best option if you are serious is to go the drama school route. Don't pay lots of money for showcases that are sometimes advertised, agents don't bother going to them! Good luck!
