COUNTER CLOCK WISE, OK HOT AIR DOES RISE, SO HAVEING COUNTER WILL BE SAFE CAUSE YOUR COUCH RECLINER LOVE SEAT ETC IS NOT DIRECTLY UNDER THE FAN, THEY ARE ALL ALONG THE WALL, SO IN THE SUMMER YOU DONT WANT THE WARMER AIR BLOWING DIRECTLY ON YOU, IN THE WINTER YOU DO WANT THE WARMER AIR TO BE ON THE CEILING COMING DOWN THE WALLS TO BREAK THE CHILL.

All by itself, warm air rises to the top of the room. Although common thinking will have you think that the fan blowing air towards you will make you feel better, the fact is that this only serves to blow the warm air toward you. In the heat of summer, the room will actually feel cooler if the fan brings the cooler air from the floor up to your level, while it continues up and out to the sides of the room. There, the air moves down the walls and recools to start the cycle again.
In the cooler winter, the fans turning the opposite way can help bring warm air down to make occupants warm up.

Either way works just as well but it is typical to have it spinning Clockwise in the summer because you get more of a downward breeze taht you feel better. Both ways circulate the air but with direct air on you it feels cooler.

It has a reversing change so which you would be able to make certain that for your self. in case you desire the air to blow DOWN, push the activate the facet of the motor housing to "DOWN". risks of it is, in case you have vaulted ceilings and stay in AZ, you're pushing warm air all the way down to the place you're, and the place your thermostat is, making your A/C artwork greater good to maintain you cool. If the fan blades are tilted to the main suitable, meaning the blade is desperate greater on its left facet than its dazzling, the fan must be working counter-clockwise. in case you push the change UP (in simple terms while the fan is off and has stopped turning) the fan will start to push cool air UP, the place it hits the ceiling, spreads out, and starts off descending back because of fact chilly air descends, warm air rises. the downside right this is, each and every of the crap on your air finally ends up on your popcorn ceiling, in a ring around the fan, and its a dogs of a job to scrub.

It depends on whether you want a direct flow of air or an indirect one. When the fan is blowing down, you get a direct flow of air. This will make you feel cooler. But, this can be annoying if it starts to blow things around (newspapers or whatever) or if it starts to get cool (at night). By having the fan blow upward, you get a flow of air down the sides of the walls and there's no direct flow to give you a chill.

im split on this.. as always the direct air makes you feel cooler, so the correct way for summer would be to blow down. however as sam said your couch etc is not below the fan.. i have my desk along 1 wall.. i get more air and feel cooler with it blowing up. that way the air comes down along the wall right on top of my desk

The manual that came with mine says
Clockwise in warm weather
Counterclockwise in cold weather
Can you hide a sticker on the fan by the direction switch?
Telling you which way so you have the info where you need it.
