Holding hostage operations, bombings, and threats are basically hoe terrorists gain power. The more we give in to fear of them, the more powerful they get. So what I want to ask is can't we give them a taste of their own weapons? Just by hanging Saddam is not going to scare them, we have to terrorise them as they have done to us.

Hardcore radicals believe in what they do and they're not afraid of dying. If our ultra-modern weaponry, sophisticated missiles and fighter jets don't scare 'em, do you think they're gonna be afraid of videos!
The best way to end terrorism is to end the ideology that creates extremism, while also correcting our Foreign Policy flaws that fuel that ideology. We do have a big part in angering Muslims and creating ideal situation for Al-Qaeda's recruitment efforts....truth does bite but we need to face it and acknowledge our responsibility!

Terrorism is not 'scare tactics' - scare tactics are devised to make people afraid of something that there's no (or less) reason to be afraid of. Terrorist take illegal actions that normal people have every reason to fear - like, y'know, blowing people to tiny pieces. "An Inconenient Truth" is scare tactics. "Liberals want to destroy the family" is scare tactics. 9/11 was terrorism.
'Fighting fire with fire' is an old cliche, and not always workable. You could, indeed, retaliate proportionately to every terrorist act. This is something like what Isreal does. They are still dealing with terrorism, so it hasn't exactly been an unqualified success.

We've been doing that for years, that is why they hate us, we have bombed unilaterally over 200 times in the last 45 years. read a history book or to read the history of the CIA. try the book "Blow back" it is what many career CIA operative have been saying for years, and a lot of state department people.

You are right!!! We should require that they all get taxpayer identification numbers or social security numbers and be required to file tax returns and be terrorized by the IRS. They would probably move to a deserted island and leave no forwarding address.

Because it's not politically correct to do so. What happens to the guys we capture and interrogate? Nothing. The wussification of this country means that we put a hot lamp in their face and yell mean words at them until they give us the info. we seek.

First Saddam Husein posed no threat so he was no terrorist. How do you suppose we would do this? Go into mosques and blow ourselves up? We aren't so fond of dying. Are you willing to sign up? To beat them, you must end the ideology. And as far as I know, that means to kill those infected with it.
