There is a reason why people get a masters degree in accounting...because it's something us commoners have no business medling with.
My wife is an accountant, and I see the countless hours she spends fixing the problems people created when they tried to do it themselves, use a cheap HR Block service or use a piece of software.
Tax software is the route of fools :)

Unless you totally understand tax laws you do.
Do you depreciate instruments, deduct your mileage and do other tax planning? Do you know how much your profit it and pay the correct estimated taxes considering self employment taxes? Do you know how to set up a retirement plan?
If you are paying taxes on your gross you are over paying so having help would save you more than it cost you.
