Actually yes, I did. It was around 14 weeks or so. My boyfriend freaked out and rushed me to the emergency room. Apparently I had been throwing up so much from my morning sickness, that it wore down the lining in my esophagus. So if you're throwing up bright red blood, then it might be the same thing and you should get to the hospital so that they can give you medicine to relieve it because it's very bad to throw up again after you've already thrown up blood. If the blood looks like coffee grounds, then get to the emergency room immediately because that means it's coming from your stomach and that's very dangerous

HOWEVER, this was one woman's experience--your friends may be different--she needs to go to the doctor ASAP, or at the very least call the advice nurse at her local hospital!!!

I threw up blood during the first trimester as well. It gnerally started if I dry heaved for too long If this is the case you friend is dry heaving tell her to have a glass of water handy with her when she starts to throw up. As soon as the vomiting subsides long enough tell her to drink a good bit this helps so that she doesn't dry heavy and therefor doesn't have the bleeding. Now if she is throwing up blood and it isn't from the dry heaving go to the doctor she could have a tear in her stomach or something equally bad wrong, in which case she will need immediate medical intervention so that her baby is nourished correctly. Good Luck!

Throwing up blood tends to point to a stomach ulcer. When a woman is pregnant her gall bladder can produce more acid then normal causing a ulcer. Or it could just be something that looked like blood. Was it bright red? If it was then its more than likely not blood. Blood in the vomit looks like coffee grounds. There is a simple blood test that her doctor could do to tell if she has truly lost any blood. Get her to an ER or doctor ASAP!! As the baby could die!!
