Obviously diplomacy will not work with the terrorists themselves. Diplomacy is used with the leaders of the countries in the middle east to rid their countries of these radical jihadists. You talk to them about not teaching their children to hate "infidels". Otherwise, this will go on generation after generation just has it already has.
Methods used by the CIA and FBI and other countries who also are trying to catch terrorists with many countries working together would have been far more effective in getting rid of these people. We had many warnings from other countries before the 911 attack. We even knew these people were in the country and taking flight lessons but didn't have to know how to land. We just failed to do anything about it. I guess we know better now. Many other countries have been attacked many more times than the U.S. Don't you think they want to be rid of these people as well? When engaged in this type of war, it only creates sympathy for the jihadist cause which creates more terrorists. This is a proven fact. Declaring war on people who don't wear a uniform, don't have a national allegiance, and fight with homemade bombs can not be fought in a military war.

Right! We have to protect ourselves from the weapons of mass destruction that they have in Iraq. Wait no they never had those. We have to protect ourselves from the terrorists. That's why we're in Iraq. What's that? There are more terrorists now than before we started this? Oh, right. Well then...we are still fighting for freedom right? What's the reason we're here this year? Right, that's it. We're fight in Iraq to leave Iraq! If we don't fight then we can't leave. So we have to stay and fight. So we can leave. Because if we don't fight so we can leave, the terrorists have won.

Since americans are as americans are I think we should look at what the french did when they formed the french foreign legion. We could finance an American Foreign Legion and hire mercenaries from other countries to do our fighting; thereby saving american lives and tax dollars. We would just have to make sure that they are always based outside the continental US to avoid problems like the romans had. War is waste; but it seems almost impossible to avoid. So far we are managing to do most of the fighting in somebody else's back yard; but it appears our lucky streak may be coming to an end.

My Friend : Do you think that some people (Muslims), In ME, woke up one morning and decided to hate America !!!?????
If you want to look at this issue logically and fairly, then i suggest you do a little research, to find the root cause of this situation! But if you want to believe what the Gov. dictates to you Via. censored news, that's perfectly OK as well, you are not the only one !
Best Regards.

The only problem with your analysis is that Saddam did not attack us. Even George Bush admits that. So how does getting ourselves in the middle of a political fight to determine whether the Sunnis or the Shiites should run Iraq help protect us against someone else attacking us?

Terrorist attacks will only become more frequent. We have to defend it in our country, not attack another country and make it completely oppressed.
The UK gets about 30 terrorist attacks a year. Everytime one happens, they just move on.
Yes, war is ugly and terrible, but we are over there for a reason that physical war can not accomplish. Fighting something abstract and intangible is impossible to defeat with guns. It is something that you have to fight with our own diplomacy. That is something abstract that will work.
Go ahead and give me the thumbs down Question Master, but youre only doing it because im disagreeing with you.
EDIT: Diplomacy prob won't work with them, but fighting this war certainly isn't going to work, so we might as well try something different.
Makes sense, doesn't it? The only way fighting would work, is if we would nuke them, which is ridiculous to use in this century.
To acmeraven: We are already hiring mercs. They get paid more than our soldiers.

But that is the problem, security tightens when something happens, instead of always being tight. That's why the 9/11 happened.
I don't care who's in office, it's always the same. That's how the human being is, we take security for granted, get back to our routines and forget about it all... Until something else happens

I think i agree with u...in our time diplomacy is more or less insignificant..either deterance or elimination is the only way left. However, i do not mean destroy iraq... im refering to terrorism...and not only the Al-qada group..but every and all other terrorist groups all over the world... this might not be easy, and may be deemed as near impossible...but if we dont put up a stand against such cowards who disgrace not only their religion(not refering to one religion in particular) but the dignity of a human being as well.
