Can you use an adapter to connect the moniter through COM A or B port? Or a USB port. Do all MOBO's have On Board Video or do they have to specify it? I know most have On Board Sound but I haven't seen On Board Video on mine. This is a MOBO that a few years old. Someone said to connect to On Board Video instead of a Graphics card. As I am having trouble figuring out a AGP problem.

No. You cannot get video through a COM port or USB, unless they have an interface for video. Whether that is a VGA port, S-Video port, or any other form of video output/input jacks.

Not all MOBO's have onboard video. Therefore would would need to know if your MOBO had this on it. Therefore if your MOBO has a VGA port on the back of it then yes it has onboard video. The only thing is that if you are planning to use an AGP or PCI, etc, slot instead you have to make sure that the onboard video is disabled in the BIOS. This may or may not be the problem that you are having.

In short, if you really want to use an AGP slot make sure the onboard video is disabled through the BIOS and try again, if this still doesn't work then there is some other underlying problem and you are stuck with the onboard video for now.

You do not have on board video, such a on board video must have a VGA port; I haven't seen a DVI substitute.

Even if you run into an on board separately later on, its working exclusive to the AGP or separate video card (only one of them is actually in use at one time)
