Well I'm a 16 year old girl and I'm about to get my first brand new car.

What do you think is a good car that is 20 thousand or less?

Get a Volvo because all my friends that have owned cars that cost over $15000 have wrecked them within 6 months. The sky is the limit though as to what kind of car you can get. I suggest buying used because of the amount of value a new car loses when you drive it off the lot. The next thing you need to decide is what kind of vehicle you want (sedan, coupe, SUV, etc.). Then you should check consumer reports and see how they certain vehicles that you are interested in.

Since this is your first car, I recommend you "not" get a new one. First, a new car is going to lose 60% of its value in the first 4 years, thats assuming it makes it that long. For a first car, it is best to get a used one that you pay cash for. I dont care how safe a driver you are, until you get actual road experience, things WILL happen. There is no reason to let this happen to a "brand new car" that will have to be paid for whether it is being driven or not.

There are lots of good cars in that price range. Look at Honda and Toyota first, Get what you like best no matter what others push at you cause you have to drive it, and your opinion counts for more than anybody else's.
