yeah, definitely.
we're not as bad as we look.
family life would be completely destroyed; infants would fend for themselves, as parents would be unwilling to spend the funds or time to raise them.
That is, if the parents took the time and money away from themselves to even bother with other people.

The human race as a whole? Yes, but there have been individuals who have hit the limit on selfishness and egotistical behavior; they're called narcissists.
