I wanted a trendy diaper bag also, but one that could also double as my purse.
I did a lot of searching online and all the ones I liked were over $100. And they still looked like "diaper bags" which I wanted to avoid.
I ended up getting a purse that was on the bigger side, with a couple pockets inside (for bottles), and then bought one of those little diaper/wipe holders to stick in the purse as well.
This was the best solution for me! Now I just buy bigger size purses/totes so they can double as a bag for me and baby, and they don't look too cutesy! Plus, since they are HALF the price, I can have more than just one!

When my daughter was born I bought my wife a Coach diaper bag as a gift. As someone else already mentioned they cost close to $400, but they are pretty large and not called diaper bags. I actaully prefer using the changing pad it comes with to my Eddie Bauer diaper bag.
To be 100% honest, the Coach bag is worth it, becasue it serves as a function other than a diaper bag. Quite frankly if you are looking for a trendy bag becasue you feel you are going to be judged in the mall, no one really notices diaper bags. I would say if you are worried about being judged, get a nice carriage or stroller.
Once that baby comes you will have so many other things to spend your money on.

For a baby, you can throw 2 diapers, a onesie, a travel wipes container and a bottle into an average size purse.
For a toddler or for going to daycare, you can use a backpack.
Maybe not a trendy bag, but I don't want to carry a diaper bag - no matter how trendy.

i personally wouldnt bother with a "trendy" diaper bag, as you will find out later, trend isnt what is important, functionality and durability are. find a diaper bag big enough to hold everything, that is rather inexpensive, and most of all that looks like it will hold up. babies dont care how expensive something is, they will rip and pull at it, save the money from this trendy bag, and use it on diapers to fill a cheaper bag

I have the most awsome coach bag! They don't call it a diaper bag they call it a all around bag. It does come with a changing pad though. It is so practical. It has loads of space and pockets. You should check out their web site. Not many people have coach diaper bags! It was really pricy though. $398 but totally worth it.

Dont' get a diaper bag
get a cool trendy large purse/tote! we only used backpacks (for husband) and totes like this one for me: http://www.funkychunkyhandbags.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=LG62IND4&Category_Code=LG67
you can find cool totes at Target pretty cheap too from $12.99 up: http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html/ref=sc_fe_l_0_12940921_13/602-1178350-7142225?ie=UTF8&node=238058011
I always found all the bottle pockets to be unnecessary as I breastfed... and my bottle feeding sister agreed since she needed a small insulated lunch bag to keep her bottles cool- the millions of compartments were just a waste for us!

You might try shopping Etsy.com. Neat stuff there -- they have hundreds of diaper bags, all of them are rare, some one-of-a-kind, and all hand made. That's where my wife got hers. Great customer service from the individual sellers, too. Items labeled "Diaper Bag" at the link below.

Don't worry about how 'trendy' it is just find something that will hold everything including the kitchen sink. You have other things to spend money on besides something trendy

The one I used most with my first daughter was the free one I got from Emfamil from the hospital. I found this one was the best, because it was the lightest. Then I found one at babies r us. It looked alot like this.

This time around,I have found a really neat one. it is a Harveys Seatbelt bag. It is made out of seatbelts. I was very lucky, I found mine for $54 ( I would never spend $175 for one)
