I think that Snape's feelings for Harry are very complicated. I have no doubt that his hatred toward Harry is geniune. Afterall, Harry is a constant reminder of what Snape lost because of his own foolish actions. Also, Snape swore to Dumbledore that he would protect Harry and yet Harry sure makes that job hard. Makes more sense now why Snape gets so upset with Harry when he pulls stunts like flying (and crashing) a car to school and sneaking out to Hogsmeade when there is a 'murderer' on the lose.

However, I do believe that deep down, Snape does care about Harry in his own twisted way. Harry is afterall Lily's son. And, whether he likes to admit it or not, like Dumbledore says, Harry has his mother's kindness and compassion. So, yeah, I think that Snape does have some affection towards Harry, even if he would never admit it, even to himself.

No, that's why I love Snape. His character is so flawed and complicated. It shows you can be a goodie without being a nice person. He was an un willing hero. He loved Lilly but was completely eaten up with the (deserved) hatred of James. He couldnt see past it. He was the oposite of Slughorn who loved Harry because of his mother and didnt have a problem with James. If James hadnt been so vile to Snape then I think he would have /liked/loved Harry, but his personality was not particularly likeable anyway so maybe they still wouldnt have got on.

I think if he hadnt died and he had shared his memories with Harry, then they could have become friends. But alas we will never know.

I loved Snape and always thought he was good though didnt think he was in love with Lilly. I like him mainly because i love Alan Rickman's portrail of him in the films.

Snape just couldnt get past the fact of who Harry's father was.

No. Snape probably hates Harry because of his dad. I think the only person he truly cared about was Lily.

I think Snape has mixed feelings about Harry. I think he dislikes him because Harry reminds him of his father who was mean to him and eventually married the woman he loved. I think he also feels some need to look out for him because Harry is Lily's son. I don't know if I'd say he actually liked him though.

Snape hates Harry because he is like James. He feels responsible to watch out for him because he loved Lilly, but he hates Harry.

I think Snape has conflicting feelings towards Harry. Harry is a mix of the person Snape hated most in the world and the one he loved most in the world. He probably struggled with this every day. No wonder he was snippy.

I do not think that Snape loved Harry because he was James' son. I think that he felt a duty to Lily to ensure his safety and that was about as deep as it goes, but I loved that Snaped died looking into Harry's eyes that are exactly like Lily's

No, he just cared about him because he thought he owed it to Lilly...after all, Harry's her son, she was the best friend of Snape and he loved her...

It relies upon on your interpretation of love. Snape enjoyed Harry by using fact he had enjoyed Lily, yet that replaced into rather plenty the quantity of the affection. If Lily had no longer existed and Harry replaced into yet another individual's toddler, Snape might hate him in simple terms the comparable by using fact Harry has too plenty James in him. Snape enjoyed Harry by potential of extension, yet he did no longer love Harry for Harry.

care? no. not brutally hate. yes. snape's feelings twards harry aren't true, because they are really twards harry's parents, not to him. snape loved harry's mom and hated his dad. so i'm sure if anything, he felt a mixture of the two with harry.
