If you have doubts, read Adam Smith. In Wealth of Nations, he discussed how Capitalism leads to perpetual peace. Or you could read Ludwig von Mises, the greatest economist of the 20th century, in his book Omnipotent Government, which discussed how Nazism was a form of Socialism and how Capitalism is the only way to achieve peace.

you posed an excellent question. one that i have wondered about also.

i am an unashamed capitalist. economics drives the world conflicts even those that were under those that were disguised as religious conflicts.

i hear people rant against big corporations for making profits. when did success become a crime?

perhaps if our government were to be modeled after corporations, we would have a balanced budget, fire ineffective employees, provide educational assistance and rewards for those who take advantage of it to better themselves.

i note that in congress, it is usually those who have made mega millions that now want to limit how successful a corporation can be.

economics was the critical factor in the fall of communism...too bad Casto, Chavez and Putin don't take note of this and change accordingly for the benefit of the people who they profess to care about.

Pure capitalism would invariably lead to disruption, because capitalism in its pure form leads to the monopoly of mega-corporations, with small business and individual workers unable to compete. We have such a system today in this country.

Not long ago, we broke up the monopoly of the utility companies, in order to give smaller companies a chance. This may have been an aggravation to the customer, but it did give birth to new enterprises.

Currently, our communications industry is monopolized, including radio, newspapers and television. Other corporate mergers have created giant international corporations like the Bush-related Carlyle Group, which has fingers in military supplies, airport security devices, etc.

Capitalism, with an equal playing field, can be healthy. Capitalism, giving tax breaks and all opportunities to a few super-wealthy groups, who in turn support the political campaigns of their choice puppets, can lead to ruin.

One mega-corporation, Halliburton, with its fingers in almost every pie, has a history of fraud, poorly managed programs in Iraq and in New Orleans, and even a dummy corporate office in Iran during the ban on doing business with this country. Much of its prosperity has been funded with governmental contracts, paid by the taxes of the American working people. This is an example of pure Capitalism run amok!

Pure capitalism will result in the same thing as a pure communism.

The centralization of wealth and power into the hands of the few.

Life is a balance.. anything in excess is destructive.

There is no "ism" that will achieve "perpetual peace". I don't believe it will ever be peaceful here on this god forsaken planet. The best we can hope for is to is that people eventually get tired of fighting each other, and that that happens before the owners of this world figure out how to make us not want peace.

Nazism is a form of capitalism, and pure capitalism is a lot like Nazism.
You want big corporations controlling governments to wage wars against innocent people, for the purpose of their acquisition of resources and commercial dominance.
This is simply fascism, and it's all about the death of helpless civilians, not about peace.

Capitalism, maybe. Pure capitalism, no.

The most peaceful countries in the world are ones with a proper mix of capitalism and a safety net. Too much inequality can create unrest.

Capitalism, requires that very nasty four letter word, that is so un-political correct today. You are not even allowed to whisper it withing 500 feet of schools, town halls, or any government building. It is the one word that terrorizes demo crates and liberals like no other, are you ready, cover the children's eyes, and if you are offended I am so sorry, people don't understand capitalism because it requires people to.... to ..... work.

There is only way. The one. Socialism. Pure capitalism is Big Capitals' propaganda.

"Pure capitalism" leads only to monopolies and mega-corporations and Big Business consoliates capital and resources to maximize their profit margin.

It also leads to "capitocracy"--government by money. Big Business would buy politicians and enact their own laws onto everyone...more so than they do now.

In "pure" capitalism, *everything* is for sale and *everything* has a price.

There's nothing pure about capitalism, and the universeal dominance of a single economic system is likely undesireable and probably impossible, anyway.

In addition, 'perpetual peace' is contrary to basic human nature.
