I want to be a fiction writer. I have written a few short things I thought sounded pretty good and I know I can do it if I really tried. But everytime I put a pen to paper with what I think is a great idea, this little voice in my head tell me I suck, I'll never be a writer, I'll never be as good as all of those other writers who's writing sounds wonderful compared to anything I could ever write. I've read lots of writing books and I'm a voracious reader. I want to come out of this slump and be the writer I know I can be. Any help guys? Thanks.

Well, the bottom line is you probably do suck. Most writers suck when they first put pen to paper. That's what the revision process is for. Now, granted, some people are SUPREMELY gifted and can churn out phenomenal narratives within the first revision or two, but for most writers, the process of revision is a long and arduous task. You simply have to accept the fact that what you are writing at first is probably going to change three, four, maybe ten times before you get just right. That instinct, that nagging little pain your *** that tells you you suck, can be one of your most vital assets. It can also be your worst enemy. That feeling is what makes novelists go back over and over again until they get it just the way they want it. Or it's what makes them give up. Know this, accept it, and instead of allowing it to hinder your writing, utilize it in a productive way. I've always been told that you need to get it down on paper, no matter what. Keep writing. If it sucks, it sucks. After you're done, you can go back and see what you've got to work with. So, I guess what I am saying is: have confidence in yourself enough to finish it before doubting your writing. You can doubt yourself afterward.

We hear our critic incredibly much solely, day in and trip. it extremely is positioned there to lie to and distract, and it does a great interest. It does precisely what we set it as much as do. we'd prefer to cover on an fairly deep point. it style of feels it extremely is the only thank you to flee what we see as nicely-merited vengeance that God might certainly inflict upon us, if purely He might desire to locate us! So we cover via ultimate our eyes, and working into the phantasm we created. yet this might on no account postpone under the inevitable scrutiny and the call of the Spirit, so we build in a serious chatter to run interference. and since the Spirit on no account coerces us, it continually seems that the Ego wins. even though it could purely oppress us as lengthy as we settle for it.
