anyone else who has gotten one or more of the new Presidential $1 coins, do any of your coins have scratches on them already? I just got mine and they're in the protective case and everything, but they seem to have small scratch marks on the face of the coin already.
Anyone know what might have happened?

I am not sure what you have. If you have the dollars in a proof set they are in a Hard plastic case, I am not sure the mint sets are out, but is so they are in a soft plastic case. The cases can have scratches on them and not the coins. If a proof set it is unlikely the scratches are on the coins, but not impossible. I have seen one coin scratched but not all in the same set. The other way is to get them in a roll or singles from a bank. They are not in plastic. If you bought them from a dealer they may be in a cardboard holder or a hard plastic holder. These holders can have scratches on them also. Coins from a bank and regular circulation strikes go to the federal reserve banks in boxes and then are put through a counting machine and are put into paper tubes. That process causes scratches on a great many coins. Hope this helps.
