How were the colonial governments different than the government in England? Thanks.

The colonial governments were administered by appointed leaders since no election process were yet to be established. The early leaders were commanders of the military contingent or the explorers. In England, the government was administered by the kings and queens who made the orders for colonial governments to follow.
