Fellow Blonde her for some assistance.
I read the Da Vinci Code. I've always been into the historical background and the architechural beauty of the parisien culture. So you can see why I love the book as much as I do. Since you are asking this question, I can quess you haven't read the book. That's okay.
There is a lot the Da Vinci Code throws our way and it can be hard to absorb.
The Da Vinci Code is not real. The entire book, as well as the film, are fictional. The author, Dan Brown, strung a chain of facts together and gave us a work of remarkable fiction.
The cinematic translation of the book left out important information. Don't they always? So here is my lame man's terms translation.....
A professor of cryptology and symbols is called to the crime scene to try and translate the markings of a victims body (when really his body itself is a symbol of one of DaVinci's most acclaimed works). He is suspected of murder of the victim's account, though knowing he is innocent. After escaping the police he seeks answers. He soon finds out that the victim was a part of a secret society of powerful historical men whose sole perpose, throughout history, was to protect the location of the Holy Grail. An opposing society based of self infliction to symbolize their devotion to God, believe it necessary to uncover the grail to gain power. Through obsticals and betrayal, the professor played by Tom Hanks) and his sidekick, Sophie, realize that Jesus actually had a wife and thus spawned a child. Sophie is descovered to be the one and only living heir to Jesus.
Sorry for the long explanation!

The book does a better job of explaining it. The story is so complicated that you need to be able to grasp everything in order to follow what's going on, and the movie doesn't give you enough to do it.
It's not just you and it's not a "blonde moment" thing, either; there's just too much story to make it play well as a movie. I'm hoping that **won't** be an issue with Angels & Demons because that story is much simpler and should make a much better movie.
If you want to watch DVC and understand what's going on, my suggestion is to read the book and then give the movie another try. But if you decide at this point to bag the whole thing I wouldn't blame you. Hope that helps!

Try reading the book. It explains a lot.
Basically, A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could shake the foundations of Christianity.

actually Da Vinci, your paintings seems such as you took in line with threat 5 minutes to do. Da Vinci took somewhat a on a similar time as to do his paintings. I comprehend him extra using fact he's somewhat devoted to paintings and he does not use paintings as an idiotic humorous tale, the place strangers remark on an excellent piece of paintings while in comparison with a pile of... I actually, actually want Da Vinci's paintings over yours. -Mandy

Its about this theory that god had a wife which offends people because in real life Mary is seen as a prostitute. It's about I old guy that dies and he leaves clues for his granddaughter to find out his secret that he died to protect. The secret is that his granddaughter is the holy grail herself meaning that she is the last descendant of Jesus Christs family. Basically she is the last living relative of Jesus and that offends people because she is a female and people believe that he has no children. I know it's alot but if you don't get everything get a copy of the book it explains it better than i can.

You have made the fatal mistake of watching the movie instead of reading the book. You cannot even begin to fit all of the book's story into a two hour movie. I read the book first, and trust me, once you start reading it, you won't put it down. Then I saw the movie and thought to myself "How the hell is anyone gonna understand this ?" READ THE BOOK - Fact or fiction, it's an awesome story.

despite what people say, it does show some rather.. interesting facts.
The holy grail was a cup (or said to be) filled with the blood of Jesus
Jesus had royal blood
his wife, Mary Magdelin had a child through him and so they had royal blood.
the whole idea was that the grail was the blood, not a cup.

The movie attempted to show a higher importance for females in the Christian religion and in life by showing that it take both to create & sustain life.
